Smoking Cessation

How is Acupuncture effective for smoking cessation?

Acupuncture treatments can help reduce many of the withdrawal symptoms caused by cigarette cessation. Some of these symptoms include anxiety, irritability, food compensation, body aches, lack of focus, and stress.  The ear treatment provided in this clinic achieves these results by helping your body to release endorphins that are similar to those experienced while smoking, thereby switching your habit from being destructive and harmful to calming and positive.

What should I know about my treatment?

Beginners are required to invest in a package of 6 treatments. It is recommended to schedule and attend two treatment sessions regularly for the first two weeks. Any treatments that are left unused from your investment package can be used at your discretion for when you feel that you may relapse. This treatment is designed for individuals who are intending to quit “Cold Turkey”. Some insurances companies do cover smoking cessation treatments.

Ear seeds are also provided to help you tame cravings that occur hours or days after the treatments. These are provided after every treatment to help you in-between your acupuncture sessions.

Treatments can be scheduled during any available time slots in the week. This helps ensure that you get your treatments during times that are most convenient for you. Treatments are $40.00 per visit, and can be purchased as needed after your initial commitment is fulfilled. Homeopathic supplements to help cravings subside are not included in the cessation package, but are available for clients to purchase as needed.

What are the benefits of quitting?

  • 30 minutes after you stop smoking, your pulse, blood pressure, and the temperature of your hands and feet go back to normal.
  • 48 hours: Damaged nerve endings begin to heal, and your sense of smell and taste will improve.
  • 7 Days: Breathing becomes easier and almost all the nicotine has been removed from your body.
  • 2-4 weeks: Anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, irritability, and lack of concentration related to the 'cold turkey' quit will have subsided.
  • 2 to 3 months: Your chance of a heart attack has decreased.
  • 1 to 9 months: The Cilia lining your lungs has started to regrow, and coughing/shortness of breath improve.
